Can a foreigner get a mortgage in Spain?
Yes — non-residents can get a Spanish mortgage, but banks typically lend a smaller share of the price: around 60–70% loan-to-value for non-residents, versus up to 80% for residents.
Those loan-to-value figures are normal market practice, not an official cap, and vary by bank and by your financial profile. You will need an NIE, proof of income, and the bank's own valuation (tasación) of the property.
Budget the difference as cash up front, on top of the ~10–13% in taxes and fees — the mortgage covers a share of the price, not the transaction costs.
